——— COUPLES THERAPY
Working through it
together.
Couples therapy for partners navigating difficulty, disconnection, or a sense that things have become harder than they need to be.
——— WHO IT'S FOR
When something between you needs attention.
Most couples don't arrive in therapy at the start of a difficulty — they arrive after months or years of trying to work it out themselves. That's a perfectly reasonable place to start.
What I offer is a space where both partners can be heard, and where the dynamic between you — not just the surface disagreements — can be explored carefully.
——— WHAT COUPLES OFTEN BRING
Things we can work on.
01
Communication & recurring conflict
The arguments that keep coming back, even when the topic changes. Patterns of defending, withdrawing, or shutting down.
02
Emotional disconnection
Feeling distant, lonely, or like roommates rather than partners. Loss of warmth, closeness, or sexual connection.
03
Repair after a difficult event
Working through a breach of trust, a period of crisis, or the impact of an external stressor (illness, loss, work, family).
04
Family, cultural, and external pressures
The dynamics that live inside the relationship but come from outside it — differences in family expectations, cultural background, parenting approaches, or pressure from extended family, friends, or community.
05
Deciding what's next
Working out whether to stay, separate, or take time to decide. Therapy that supports either direction, with clarity.
06
Life transitions
Adjusting to becoming parents, blended families, career changes, relocation, or other shifts that have changed the relationship.
——— HOW IT WORKS
How sessions are structured.
FIRST SESSION
Both partners attend. We discuss what's brought you in and what you'd like to be different.
ONGOING
Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, 50 minutes. Both partners attend most sessions; sometimes individual sessions can be useful too.
FORMAT
In-person in Newtown, or via telehealth. Both formats can be combined as needed.
